This course is not a usual conversation course – it’s taught by the highly effective direct method. The method focuses on repetition, speaking and practical training rather than loose conversations or the grammar/structure/rules of the language. Of course grammar is important and it is illustrated by examples and the rules are subconsciously and intuitively conveyed by means that allow the student to relate to them in a practical sense.
WORKFLOW: New vocabulary is introduced on included vocabulary lists on one specific topic each Friday. Subsequently the pronunciation is practiced and the meaning of the vocabulary is clarified. In the next step, the new vocabulary is actively used in various speaking role plays and group tasks.
You will learn new vocabulary in an engaging way by practising role plays of useful everyday situations helpful in achieving the “feel for the language” and a proper pronunciation of German. Conversation, listening, repetition of new vocabulary with the help of visual aids are the main focus of this course. Through this you will acquire a feeling for the German language much faster than conventional techniques, developing a large lexicon that can be put into use from the day one of your course.
Some topics for level A are: bookings, cancellations, shopping, travelling, giving advice, solving problems, going out, making appointments and many more. You will get fit for your every day life in Germany.
Topics for level B are for example: environment and pollution, health and nutrition, human relations, media, problem solving, consumerism – vocabulary of each topic is practiced in form of a talk show, for and against discussions, group debates and other ways to make you memorize more vocabulary and typical phrases for each topic.
Frequent spoken language practise will prepare you well for everyday encounters in Germany and oral examinations. Some grammatical structures required for each topic will also be practiced in this course, but with less theory and more practical training. Let’s learn creatively together!
